Born in Tandil, Argentina (14/07/1981) he started his professional career for River Plate in 1999 and alternated in the first team until obtaining a starting spot in 2002. In mid-2003 he was loaned to Club Monarcas Morelia in Mexico, where he only played one season. In 2004 he returned to Argentina to play again for River Plate at the request of the then-manager Leonardo Astrada, with whom he managed to win the Torneo Clausura. That same year, he signed a contract to play for Colón de Santa Fe. Later in 2005, he was transferred to Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, where he tested positive for marijuana doping. In June 2006, again through Leonardo Astrada, he signed for Rosario Central. In 2007 he signed again for Colón, where he would play until 2012 and was called up to the National Team by then coach Diego Maradona. In 2012 he signed with Argentinos Juniors but in May 2013 he was dismissed from the club due to management's decision. In August 2013, after being a free agent, he signed with Atlético de Rafaela, where he would play his last game as a professional on May 24, 2014, aged 32. The peculiarity is that his last match was a tiebreaker between his then club, Atlético de Rafaela, and his former club C.A. Colón to see who would get relegated to the Second Division of Argentine football. He was called up by coach Marcelo Bielsa in 2003 to play friendlies with the Argentine National Team along with other footballers who played in the local league. On May 11, 2010, his name appeared on the provisional list of players called up by coach Diego Armando Maradona to play in the World Cup in South Africa, and on the 19th of the same month it was confirmed that he would be part of the Argentine team in the World Cup. The Argentine football fan was surprised by his call up, and several took it as a joke: during the team's farewell at the Estadio Monumental, flags were seen that said "Garcé, bring alfajores" in a clear allusion to the Argentine custom of bringing alfajores when they come back from a vacation. During the World Cup, he was, along with substitute goalkeepers Diego Pozo (team-mate in Colón) and Mariano Andújar, one of the few players who did not play in any game. Spoiler: show |
