INFO:
Cristian Gastón Castillo is a former striker. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina (25/02/1975), he started his professional career aged 17 at Club Atlanta in 1992. In the bohemians, he would win the Primera B Metropolitana in 1995, promoting the blue-and-yellow team to the Second Division. In 1996 he joined Colón de Santa Fe, becoming an immovable member of the sabalero forward line. In this institution he would achieve a runner-up finish in 1997 and play in the Copa Libertadores in 1998, reaching the quarterfinals. In the 1998/99 season he would arrive, -after a fallen transfer to Racing Club-, at Club Atlético River Plate, playing there until 2001, the year in which he returned to Colón and established himself as an idol. After this second spell in Santa Fe, he would play for one year at Al-Nasr in the UAE, and return to Argentina, to play for Olimpo, Independiente, Gimnasia y Esgrima, and Arsenal. He would retire from professional activity at the age of 32 playing in the third division for his boyhood club, Atlanta.

A fast and agile forward, he did not stand out for being a high-volume scorer, but his incredible shot technique allowed him to score goals of all kinds; he could score by chipping the goalkeeper, doing a rabona, or even a trivela. He was versatile in the center-forward position, not stagnating in the area, but always playing behind the backs of rival defenders. He had a good response to receiving filtered passes and intercepting rebounds. With the discreet amount of 20 goals in 87 games, the Golden Boy is considered one of the greatest idols of Colón de Santa Fe and one of the most skilled forwards who passed through the club.
