Defence-MindedINFO:Leonardo Díaz is a former goalkeeper. Born in Santa Fe, Argentina (05/09/1972), he started his professional career aged 17 for Newell's Old Boys. After 5 years of little minutes in the Rosario team, in 1994 he arrived in Colón de Santa Fe, where he would automatically replace the legendary Jorge Vivaldo in goal and would achieve promotion to the First Division after 14 years. In the red-and-black institution, he would become an idol, being part of some of the most glorious moments in the
sabalero's history, among them, the runners-up seasons in '97 and '00, and the Libertadores quarterfinals in 1998. After 216 games playing for Colón de Santa Fe, in 2002 he would arrive at Club Atlético Independiente, one of the giants of Argentinian football. For the
red devils, he would win, starting in all the games, the 2002 Torneo Apertura, so far the last national title for the Avellaneda team. Later he would play for many teams, including Deportivo Cali, Municipal de Guatemala, where he would be named three consecutive times the best goalkeeper in the league, C.A. Huracán, AEL Limassol from Cyprus, Deportes Concepción from Chile, Al-Nasr from Syria, Boca Unidos, and The Strongest, from Bolivia. He would end his pro career in 2011, at Deportivo Maipú, aged 39.
