Born in Paraná, Entre Ríos (02/01/1973), he started his footballing career in 1993 at his local club, Patronato, which back then played in the Torneo del Interior. Nicknamed "Carucha", due to his ugliness, he signed his first professional contract in 1995, for Colón de Santa Fe, club where he played until 1999, with a brief loan to Newell's Old Boys in 1997. In 1999 he played for Chacarita Juniors for a semester, then moved to Monterrey in Mexico to finally return to Vélez Sársfield in the 2000–2001 season. At Liniers, he was one of the team's starting forwards with some good performances in both the Local Tournament and the Copa Libertadores and Mercosur. After his time at the fortín, he wore the colors of the UNAM Pumas in 2002 and in 2003 he played for Pachuca in Mexico, between these two Mexican clubs he had a brief stint in Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in Argentina. In 2004 he returned to Chacarita Juniors who sold him to the Guatemalan giant, CSD Municipal, where he would play three seasons and win four titles. In 2007 he returned to his hometown to play for the club where he started in football, Patronato de Paraná; team that at that time participated in the Torneo Argentino B, now in professional status. That season, Patronato managed to advance to the Torneo Argentino A with Carucha being one of the team's main participants, contributing goals and, above all, his great experience. The following season, already in the Torneo Argentino A, Patronato reached the final stages of the tournament, losing the final on penalties with Boca Unidos de Corrientes for a promotion to the Primera B Nacional. In the 2009/2010 season, Patronato once again reached the final stages, but this time it achieved the long-awaited promotion, vastly defeating Santamarina de Tandil in the final, by an overall result of 4 to 1, thus managing to reach the Primera B Nacional. Despite what his big frame and playing style might indicate, Carucha was by no means a player without mobility, at least in his early years. In Colón, he functioned as a post player for his partner in crime Cristian Castillo, but he also had good distribution, some agility, and good response. Very strong to withstand rival defenders, he had an enviable jump and had a good header, physically a bull for his size, although as time went by he lost a lot of speed and burst. He was very good at solving plays in small spaces within the area, he had a good goal-scoring instinct. Carucha is undoubtedly one of the greatest idols of Patronato and of Colón. |
