Born in Rosario, Santa Fe (14/04/1982), Cetto made his professional debut in 2001 in Rosario Central. Thanks to his performance in the U-20 National Team, in January 2002 he was transferred to FC Nantes. He joined the French team during the European winter break and his league debut came on January 29, 2002, in a 3-0 victory against Olympique Lyonnais. He managed to earn a starting place in the team in the 2004-2005 season, where he played 26 league games (his team finished 17th, narrowly avoiding relegation). He scored the first goal of his career on April 9, 2005, in a 2-2 draw against Olympique Lyonnais. During the 2005-2006 season, he continued to be a starter, played 29 games per league, and was awarded the captain's armband. During this season he scored 3 goals. In the 2006-2007 season, FC Nantes was relegated after finishing last in the table. Mauro played 29 games in Ligue One, 4 in the French Cup, and 2 in the League Cup. After five years at the same club, it was Toulouse F. C. who signed the player. He debuted in his new team on August 15, 2007, in a defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League. In the season his team finished 5th (qualifying for the Europa League) and Mauro played 24 games. In the 2008-2009 season, Toulouse bought his entire transfer for €1.300.000 and he signed a 3-year contract. The team finished fourth in the league, Mauro played 34 games, and Toulouse once again qualified for European competition. He played 22 games in the 2009-2010 season: 16 in the league, 1 in the French Cup, 3 in the League Cup and 2 in the Europa League. The 2010-2011 season was the last at the club for Mauro, who had already become the captain of the team, as he decided to continue his career in Italian football. After a poor spell at Palermo in Italy, and a return to France to play with LOSC Lille, Cetto returned to Argentina and in January 2013 signed with San Lorenzo de Almagro. Cetto did not return to Argentina in all his fullness, and his performances in the blue and red club were not ideal, nonetheless, his experience was essential for San Lorenzo to become champion that year. Cetto started in 5 matches of the 2014 Copa Libertadores: against Botafogo and Unión Española, in the group stage, both legs of the semifinals against Club Bolívar, and the second leg of the final against Club Nacional de Paraguay. In 2016, after 63 games in 3 seasons for San Lorenzo de Almagro, Cetto returned to his first club, Rosario Central. He played 4 games and scored a goal in the 2016 Primera División. In the 2016-17 season, Cetto didn't play any games for Central, hence decided to retire at the age of 35. Spoiler: show |
