Born in Castelli, Buenos Aires (06/08/1982), he started his professional career at Justo José de Urquiza in the year 2006. In 2007 he was transferred to Deportivo Armenio, which played in the Primera B Metropolitana, scoring 23 goals in 28 games. After finishing the Reducido season with Deportivo Armenio in mid-2008, he was signed by Arsenal, from the Primera División. He debuted in the first team on August 16 of the same year, in his team's 2-1 defeat against Tigre. At the beginning of 2010, he moved to All Boys, which at that time was playing in the Primera B Nacional. He made his debut for the albo on January 30, coming on as a substitute for his teammate Agustín Torassa 76 minutes into the game. In All Boys he achieved promotion to the First Division, and quickly became the sensation of the tournament: during the 2011-2012 season, Matos scored 18 goals. On February 4, 2014, he was transferred to San Lorenzo for $2,800,000 for 40% of the player, and signed a contract for two and a half years, where he achieved the greatest sporting achievement of his career and the club's history, the 2014 Copa Libertadores, scoring the tying goal in the first leg of the final against Club Nacional. In December 2014, San Lorenzo faced Auckland City in the Club World Cup: after a 1-1 tie in the 1st half, Matos scored the winner which led them to the final, which they ultimately lost to Real Madrid. In mid-2016, San Lorenzo loaned Matos to Newell's Old Boys in Rosario for one year. On August 8 of that year, the forward ran over and killed a motorcyclist with his car on a corner in the Fisherton neighborhood, in the western area of the Santa Fe city of Rosario. After being loaned to different teams, such as Gimnasia y Esgrima (LP), Chacarita Juniors, and Atlético Tucumán, in the year 2019 he was sentenced to two years in jail for this incident. Fortunately for him, he was set free pretty quickly and he put an end to his career the same year he was freed, retiring from professional activity in 2020 at the age of 38 playing for Barracas Central.
