Attack-MindedINFO:Adrián Emmanuel Martínez is an Argentine footballer who plays as a center forward. Born in Campana, Buenos Aires (07/07/1992), he played as a youth for the club in his hometown, Villa Dálmine, at age 17, and for his local amateur club, Las Acacias. In 2015, he tried out for C.A.D.U. in the neighboring city of Zárate, a club that signed him despite not offering a salary. He spent three seasons in Primera C, the fourth tier of Argentine football, with this team. During his time at C.A.D.U., Martínez worked as a garbage collector and construction worker, until a motorcycle accident caused him to lose his job. That same year, after his brother was shot, Martínez was arrested and accused of burning and robbing the house of the aggressor. He spent six months in prison before his innocence was proven. In 2017, after scoring 21 goals for C.A.D.U., Martínez signed with C.A. Atlanta of Primera B Metropolitana. He scored 15 goals in his first season with the club, including one against Belgrano and another against River Plate in the Copa Argentina. On June 18, 2018, he joined Club Sol de América in Paraguay's Primera División, where he was the team's top scorer with 12 goals that season. On December 18, 2018, he signed with Club Libertad in Paraguay. On February 13 the following year, during the Copa Libertadores, he scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory over Bolivia's The Strongest. On December 4, he won his first title, the Copa Paraguay, making a significant impact with seven goals in the tournament, including two in the final, a 3-0 win against Guaraní. On July 5, 2021, Martínez was loaned from Libertad to Cerro Porteño, and on April 12, 2022, to Coritiba in Brazil. In early 2023, he left Libertad permanently and signed a one-year contract with Instituto as a free agent, marking his return to Argentine football after five years. Rising to the challenge, "Maravilla" became the standout player for Instituto, scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances and playing a key role in the team’s return to the top tier after their relegation in the 2006 Clausura. The Campana native scored against Boca Juniors, Independiente, and Racing Club, as well as a decisive goal against Belgrano in the Córdoba derby at a packed Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium with fans from both teams.
After leaving Instituto, where he scored 18 goals in 41 matches, Racing Club capitalized on the opportunity to purchase 100% of his transfer rights for $2 million, signing him to a three-year contract. He debuted off the bench on January 28 in a 1-0 loss to Unión at the Cilindro de Avellaneda. On February 9, 2024, in a historic derby, Martínez shone by scoring his first three goals and providing an assist for Racing in a victory over San Lorenzo, establishing himself as a bright attacking prospect for "La Academia." His scoring streak continued in the next match with a contribution to a 4-0 win against Newell's Old Boys. The most memorable moment came on February 24: in a heated Avellaneda derby as the visiting team, he scored the decisive goal to secure Racing's victory over Independiente. Just weeks later, on March 10, he showcased his skill at La Bombonera by scoring in a thrilling match against Boca Juniors, which ended in a narrow 4-2 win for Boca. In the 2024 Copa de la Liga Profesional, Martínez emerged as one of the tournament’s top scorers with 12 goals. Alongside his key performances against San Lorenzo, Newell’s, Independiente, and Boca, he scored a hat-trick against Central Córdoba, added another goal against Lanús, and sealed the campaign with a strike against Belgrano, finishing as the third top scorer behind Miguel Borja of River Plate (13 goals). On April 4, 2024, Martínez made his Copa Sudamericana debut, scoring in Racing’s 2-0 victory over Paraguay's Sportivo Luqueño at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium, kicking off the group stage campaign. He later added two goals in a 3-0 win against Brazil’s Bragantino at the Cilindro and scored in both matches against Chile’s Coquimbo Unido. In the final group stage match, he netted again against Sportivo Luqueño at the Néstor Díaz Pérez Stadium in Lanús. On November 23, 2024, in the Copa Sudamericana final, Martínez scored a goal in Racing Club's 3-1 victory over Brazil’s Cruzeiro at La Nueva Olla Stadium in Asunción, Paraguay, securing the championship. He also finished as the competition’s top scorer with 10 goals.
