Born in the city of Mendoza (16/02/1978), Pozo started his career at Godoy Cruz in the year 1995 at the age of 17. He would stay in the 'Tomba' until 2005 when he was transferred to Huracán. In the Parque Patricios club, he achieved promotion to the First Division, however, ultimately he would not play any game in that category since he would be transferred to Talleres de Córdoba that same year. In 2007 he played for Instituto de Córdoba, and finally, in 2008 he would have his first experience in the First Division of Argentine football when he was signed by Colón de Santa Fe. In Colón he would spend the best years of his career: he would manage to play in the Copa Libertadores in 2010 and would even be called up to the National Team for the World Cup held in South Africa that same year. In 2013, Pozo left the Santa Fe club and joined the ranks of the recently relegated C.A. Huracán, and the following year, he had his first experience abroad by signing for Rangers de Talca, in Chile. Diego Pozo would retire from professional activity in 2015 at the age of 37, playing for Sportivo Belgrano of the Argentine second division. Diego Pozo has been international with the Argentina national football team on 4 occasions. In 2009, the national team coach, Diego Maradona, called him up to play a series of friendly matches in which they would face Panama and Ghana. On November 26, he was called up again to play a friendly match against the Catalonia team, in Spain, in which he started, as well as against Panama and Ghana. In May 2010, he also played a friendly against Haiti. After the last mentioned match, he was included by Maradona on the list of 30 players pre-selected to play in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was among the 23 players of the final squad.
