Born in Tunuyán, Mendoza (30/09/1959), he began his professional career at Andes Talleres de Mendoza in 1976, where he played until 1981. After leaving Andes Talleres, Morón had stints at Tiro Club and C.A. Ledesma. His performances caught the attention of larger clubs, and in 1983, he made his debut in the Primera División with C.A. Unión. Over his 5 years at the Santa Fe club, he played 91 matches. In 1988, Morón made a significant move to Colo-Colo in Chile, where he had the most notable period of his career. Morón's most significant achievement came in 1991 when he played a crucial role in Colo-Colo's victory in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition. This triumph was historic as it marked Colo-Colo's first and only Copa Libertadores title to date. In addition to the Copa Libertadores, Morón also won four times the Primera División, one Copa Interamericana, and one Recopa Sudamericana, further adding to his impressive trophy haul. His performances in these international competitions were instrumental in establishing Colo-Colo as a formidable force in South American football during the early 1990s. During his time at Colo-Colo, Daniel Morón introduced the practice of wearing yellow uniforms for the team's goalkeepers, which is still in practice today. After leaving Colo-Colo in 1994, Morón continued his career in Chile, playing for several other clubs, including Provincial Osorno, Deportes Concepción, Palestino, and Audax Italiano. In 1995, Morón was called up by coach Xabier Azkargorta to the Chilean national team for three friendly matches though he did not play. Daniel Morón is widely regarded as one of the most prominent goalkeepers in Colo-Colo's history and remains one of the club's greatest idols. |
