Info:

“Lešnik had a natural goalscoring instinct and was very astute and skilled at converting scoring opportunities; he was humorously described as being able to 'score four goals from two.' Despite his abilities, he remained a controversial player due to his apparent lack of interest or effort in many matches; it was often said that his uniform remained white and spotless even in the muddiest conditions. Lešnik also disliked training: he only trained on Fridays, while his teammates trained three times a week. By his own admission, he used his left foot 'only for walking.' However, Lešnik was famous for his sudden sprints, usually close to the goal, and his agility and execution were not matched by any Dinamo player until generations later, by strikers such as Dražan Jerković and Davor Šuker.”

“He started out as a goalkeeper, but very quickly moved to center forward and realized it was the only position he wanted to play. At 15, he played for the Zagreb Derby senior team from 1929 to 1934.

“He was a very contradictory player, loved or hated. He often seemed carefree, uninterested, and even when playing in the mud, his underwear remained spotlessly white. He didn't even like training. Others came to train three times a week, and he only came on Fridays to warm up a bit. 'Let those who can't score run and play defense.' But when he started at full speed, indifference quickly transformed into a thirst for blood and execution".

“He was a clearly 'right-handed' player, not especially combative or sharp, he never gave the impression of a top-level player, but he was a 'born' goal-scorer. Because of his extremely light hair, they called him 'White'.”
