- Vodička was a discreet but reliable and powerful midfielder.
- In football he was a lateral midfielder, 1920 Staroměstský SK Olympia Prague I (1923 briefly Union Žižkov), 1924 Slavia Prague, 1938 Hvězda Košíře; 18 caps for the national football team between 1926 and 1937, participating in the 1934 World Cup in Italy
- In the book 50 Famous Slavists, Vítězslav Houška describes him thus: "His remarkable peculiarity lay in the fact that he did not distinguish himself by anything special. He can be classified as a modest and discreet worker who had no desire to cause a stir or garner admiration and applause. He vented his ambition by training diligently and taking care of his man. He worried that the target he was defending would not play. Spectators, fascinated by the glory of a certain attacker, often thought that the famous player in question was not at his best, not realizing that the star often lost the ball when within range of Vodička's halva. He collected the ball discreetly and tactfully, without rejecting or cutting off the opponent, he passed smoothly and, usually, with great precision. All this made him famous, admired and, for a long time, irreplaceable."
