In 1949 he joined Independiente de Medellín at the time known as El Dorado along with other Peruvian players, forming part of a team that was known as "La Danza del Sol" for having up to 12 Peruvian players in its ranks. In 1951 he moved to Huracán de Medellín and then returned to Peru. Back in his country, he played for Atlético Chalaco, being the undisputed starter on the right side of the so-called "Ballet Porteño", where Adolfo Riquelme (America's champion in 1953), "Tano" Bártoli, Luis Portanova, Germán Colunga, René Rosasco, Félix Mina, among others, stood out.
