Thörn's selection for the national team in 1930 was sensational, as IFK Grängesberg was then playing in Division 4. He is the only player from Division 4 to have been selected for the Swedish national soccer team. He played a total of two senior internationals, both in 1930, against Estonia (5-1) and Latvia (5-0), where he also scored one of the goals.
After the 1934 World Cup, Thörn joined Örebro SK , becoming Örebro's first national soccer player. He was selected for the national B team that same year and scored a goal in a 3-1 win over Norway. He made his debut for Örebro SK in July 1934 in a 4-0 win over IFK Västerås in Division 2 Norra. His first goal for the club came in September 1934 in a 3-4 defeat against Hallstahammars SK . However, Thörn played only six games for ÖSK before returning to IFK Grängesberg. He ended his soccer career at the club at the age of 38.
