His first club was Club Olimpia de Asunción, where he joined the youth ranks in 1945. He made his first-team debut in 1949. In 1951, he was transferred to Boca Juniors de Cali in Colombia, and later to San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina. At San Lorenzo, he became the league's top scorer in 1954, with 29 goals. He later played for Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata, also in Argentina, and Real Betis Balompié in Spain, where he retired in 1964.
