This is the last Slovan player I had saved. From here on, I might post a Slovak player from here again for a long time. It was actually very complicated for me since information is very scarce, and I had difficulties with players like Obert, Karel, and Tegelhoff. There might be more information about them in the future. The Slovak language has also been a challenge for me to fully understand, since there are different ways of expressing each position. For example, the winger is called a "wide midfielder." For a moment, I thought he was some kind of full-back, until I looked at newspaper photographs showing lineups from the matches they played. Indeed, they are wingers, but not midfielders. It's not like the descriptions made them look like some kind of second striker. They always said they were glued to the line. Cases like Luknár, Soral, and Simansky are the ones I remember most. Finally, I really found the football in Central Europe very interesting and, in my opinion, it has always been the best on the continent. One of the greatest European world champions comes from there, as do two of the most revolutionary national teams at the time. From players with incredible technique to physically strong players thanks to their sporting culture, it's very sad that many of them weren't recognized due to the war period they went through. ![]() France 1 vs Czechlovakia 0 - 1949, Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir, Colombes
