He was a starter for the Brazilian national team in the 1934 and 1938 World Cups, becoming the first Paraná native to be called up to the national team and play in a World Cup. While still a member of the Brazilian national team, he played in the 1937 Copa América. According to Roberto Assaf and Antônio Carlos Napoleão ("Seleção Brasileira - 90 Anos", Mauad ed.), Patesko played 34 matches for the Brazilian national team, winning 20, drawing 5, losing 9, and scoring 11 goals. He was part of the Botafogo team that won its fourth title in 1935 and also on its first international tour in 1936, where he played 9 matches and scored 6 goals. He made his debut for Botafogo on December 9, 1934, in a friendly against Vasco da Gama, and his last match for the club was against Fluminense on September 4, 1943. In 1941, while still a Botafogo player, he wore the Atlético Mineiro shirt in a friendly match played in Santa Luzia (Minas Gerais) against the local team Santa Cruz Esporte Clube, which Galo won 3-2. Very good post, man. I've always had curiosity about early 30's and 40's brazilian players, but never felt confident doing them relying in very little footage and texts. I always think that I will overrate/underrate players from those eras and ending up not making a close to reality set. |
