He began his career at Fluminense in 1911. He won the Rio de Janeiro state championship in his debut. After a year at Fluminense, he moved to Flamengo, where he remained until 1916, when he graduated as a doctor from the Rio de Janeiro School of Medicine. Between soccer matches and in his spare time, he devoted himself to providing medical care to workers at the Central do Brasil Railway. The full-back played eight games for the Brazilian national team. He was champion of the 1914 Roca Cup and the 1919 South American Championship, the year he played his last game against Uruguay. Píndaro was the first coach of the Brazilian national team to participate in a World Cup, in 1930, when Brazil was eliminated in the group stage.
