INFO:
Getúlio Vargas is a former Brazilian goalkeeper who began his career at Flamengo, the club where he was trained and made his professional debut. Despite showing potential in the Flamengo youth academy, he had few opportunities as a starter for the senior team, being used primarily as a reserve throughout his time at the club.

His career at Flamengo coincided with periods of strong competition for the position, facing more experienced or established goalkeepers in the squad, such as Júlio César, Diego and Bruno, which limited his chances of success. Getúlio was loaned to Fortaleza, where he won the Ceará State Championship, later Westerlo and Vila Nova, lefting Flamengo for good in 2009.

After that Getúlio "roamed" the football world, signing for Duque de Caxias (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Orlando Pirates (South Africa) and Vitória de Setúbal (Portugal) with little to no time playing, until in the end of 2012 when he signed with Bangu, being the starter goalkeeper of the club for the Carioca Championship of 2013 and being elected the 2nd Best Goalkeeper of the championship, only behind to Jefferson, then goalkeeper of Botafogo and Brazilian NT (for a brief time).

His successful performances at Bangu gave him some visibility and in the same year he transferred to ABC de Natal (Rio Grande do Norte State), which was playing in the Série B of the Brazilian Championship, but was languishing in last place. Getúlio arrived with the mission of taking over the starting spot in ABC's goal and helping the club in its fight against relegation; which ended up working out and the club finished the championship in 14th place, with 46 points and Getúlio being one of the team's highlights.

However, after months of unpaid wages and unfavorable conditions, Getúlio decided to return to Rio de Janeiro, where he signed with Boavista to play in the 2014 Campeonato Carioca, the club that at the time was in the best financial condition among the state's smaller clubs. Despite the team's strong performance in the state championship and strong individual performances, Getúlio Vargas decided to end his career at the age of 31.

After retiring, Getúlio Vargas graduated in Sports Journalism, working for various television and radio channels, both broadcast and cable, and having his own YouTube channel where he interviews former players and coaches.
