INFO:Cléber “Bequinha” (Cléber Ribeiro Filho) was a defensive midfielder with refined tactical intelligence and elegance in midfield who shone with the legendary “Máquina Tricolor” of Fluminense in the mid-1970s. With excellent reading of the game and a keen touch on the ball, he was efficient both in marking and creating, balancing the transition between defense and attack with quality passing. Discreet and reserved off the field, Cléber revealed a strong personality and maturity on the pitch, sharing the spotlight with stars such as Rivellino, Doval and Gil.
Revealed in the youth academy of Flu, he debuted in 1973 and quickly became a key player in the team that won four Campeonato Carioca (1973, 1975, 1976, 1980). Wearing the tricolor shirt, he played in 315 matches and scored 41 goals. His career included invitations from Europe — for example, from Atlético de Madrid in 1975 — but he remained loyal to Fluminense until 1980, due to the high fees demanded by the board. Affectionately nicknamed “Bequinha” by his teammates, he was known for his identification with the club and his competence on the field. Cléber was a symbol of the “Máquina Tricolor”: a modern, technical and discreet midfielder, but essential to the balance of that memorable team.
