Sander Boschker was one of the longest-serving and most respected goalkeepers in Dutch football, an absolute symbol of FC Twente, the club where he spent practically his entire career and became a true legend. With more than 20 seasons playing for the Enschede team, Boschker stood out for his consistency, leadership spirit and deep identification with the club, being a starter in several phases of the team — including in the historic titles of KNVB Cup 2001 and Eredivisie in 2009–10.

Despite not having the same media prestige as other Dutch goalkeepers of his generation, Boschker was known for his safe and simple saves avoiding rebounds, accurate reading of the game and consistency under pressure, as well as being an excellent penalty saver; a characteristic that was clearly evident in the penalty shootout against PSV in 2001, when he saved three penalties. He also had a brief stint at Ajax, but without playing officially, soon returning to Twente, where he maintained his status as an absolute idol.

His longevity and dedication earned him national recognition: in 2010, at the age of 39, he was called up to join the Dutch National Team for the World Cup in South Africa and despite no playing in the tournament, Boschker became the oldest player to ever debut of the Dutch NT, in a friendly game against Ghana, which was won 4-1 to the Oranje.

Sander Boschker is remembered as an example of loyalty, professionalism and longevity, with more than 550 matches for FC Twente, leaving a legacy of constancy, seriousness and love for the club, which in his honor built a statue of him in front of the Grolsch Veste Stadium.
