Thomas Bruns is a Dutch midfielder who stood out mainly for Heracles Almelo, where he built the most solid and expressive phase of his career, being recognized for his consistency, good passing and arrival in the attack. He emerged as a promising player from the youth ranks of FC Twente, but it was at Heracles that he established himself as a starter and gained prominence in the Eredivisie.

Playing as a central midfielder or attacking midfielder, Bruns was known for his consistency, vision and relatively good mid-range shooting, as well as good movement between the opposing lines. Between 2011 and 2017, he was part of a generation that led Heracles to stable and even historic campaigns, such as the unprecedented qualification for the Europa League in 2016, having a direct role as a midfield organizer and occasional top scorer in important games.

After his good spell at Almelo, he was signed by Vitesse in 2017, but was unable to repeat the same level of performance. He then went on loan and transferred to clubs such as FC Groningen, PEC Zwolle and VVV-Venlo, without establishing himself in a lasting way.He also had a brief stint with Adanaspor in the Turkish 2nd division and then returned to Heracles in 2022, maintaining a certain prestige as an experienced player.
