Michael is a Brazilian winger known for his explosive speed, short dribbling, and irreverent style on the field. His football career is marked by overcoming obstacles: coming from humble origins in Poxoréu, Mato Grosso state, and rejected by several clubs in the youth ranks, receiving few professional opportunities with very small clubs such as Monte Cristo, Goiânia and Goianésia, where finally managed to attrack the eye of bigger clubs. Shortly thereafter, he caught the attention of Goiás, where he quickly became a standout in Série B and, later, Série A in 2019. His performance in the emerald jersey — with goals, assists, and very solid performances — earned him the Brasileirão's revelation award that year.

Signed by Flamengo in 2020, Michael encountered a star-studded squad and, initially, struggled to adapt. He alternated between the bench and starting throughout 2020, but it was in 2021 that he reached his peak for the club. With significant tactical development and increased consistency, he became one of the team's key players throughout the season, especially after injuries and fluctuations in other starters. His decisive goals, runs, and disconcerting dribbles were crucial in the Brazilian championship runner-up campaign, and he finished the year as one of the team's top scorers with 19 goals, in addition to earning enormous affection from the fans for his dedication and charisma.

In 2022, he was traded to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where he continued to be an important offensive player, contributing assists and goals, and maintaining his incisive style. With the Saudi team, he won several titles, competed in the Club World Cup and continental competitions, facing European and South American clubs. In 2024, he returned to Flamengo, being reinstated into the squad as a well-known and beloved name, with the potential to once again be a difference-maker in the Flamengo attack.
