He was part of the first “Academia” of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, where he won several titles and is considered one of the most consistent left-backs in the history of the São Paulo club. He joined Guarani's first team in 1959, playing as a right and left winger. In some games, he stood out, being considered the second-best forward on the team after Leal. He had speed, acting as a surprise element in attack, quickly entering the area or receiving the ball up front, shifting through the center, etc. In situations like this, he was usually unmarked. He was later moved back from right wing to right back, occasionally playing as a left back, still for Guarani.
