Niko Čeko is a retired Croatian footballer. He was defender and midfielder whose career was stopped at his peak when was diagnosed with a testicular tumor in April 1997, and after seven days another tumor, lymph nodes. He won the battle of life thanks to his great physical constitution and willingness. He was physically a beast, built like wrestler, brave and courageous, very strong in aerial battles with rocket shot. He acted better as sweeper without some specific tasks in marking, showing intelligence to intercept the balls sent in his box and rush forward with the ball. He reached the peak of fame in the nineties of the last century, with a great game for Hajduk. Everyone remembers his goal against Dinamo, after which he became a desirable target for numerous European clubs. European giants like Beşiktaş, Werder, Sevilla, Marseille, Lyon were interested in him but sadly the illness prevailed.
