INFO:Wright is a former left back. He spent the majority of his career at Aston Villa, playing 329 matches from 1995 to 2003, scoring 5 goals. Before joining Aston Villa he played for Blackpool between 1989 and 1991 and Blackburn Rovers between 1991 and 1995 winning the 1994-95 Premier League. He played for several other clubs including Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Derby County, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. He retired in 2011.
Wright was mostly an offensive full-back gifted with great quickness and stamina. Omnipresent on the left flank, he liked pushing forward to create scoring opportunities and deliver assists especially after exchanging short passes with the strikers. He was one of the shortest players in Premier League at his time and on of the shortest in the history of the competition. Less effective as defender ─ likely due to his lack of height ─ he had to take advantage of his high speed to try marking his opponents constantly. Left-footed, he wasn't bad when using the right foot.
