INFO:

Abdullah Zubromawi was a Saudi defender who played in three World Cups for the nation during their golden age. He initially played at right back at the 1994 World Cup, before moving to centre back full time. He was a defender with impressive physical capabilities, despite his average build he used his body to shield the ball well and he was very fast over long distances like his usual partner Al-Khilaiwi (even able to keep up with players like Thierry Henry in 1998). Unlike him though he was very good in the air with a big leap and he also had good, clean tackles. Although he wasn't good with his feet, he had decent long passing abilities. On the other hand, like all the Saudi defenders he sometimes made basic errors and some of his clearances with his feet were inaccurate and weak, putting his own team in danger. In 2004, he was jailed for two years for unpaid debts after trusting a friend with his finances. This all but ended his career at the top level of Saudi football, and he has since been forced to work as a security guard to make a living. A sad end to the career of a Saudi great.
