INFO:Luís Oliveira is a former secondary striker or attacking midfielder who occasionally played as center forward. He's been a prolific scorer for a decade in the Belgian and Italian top leagues: 44 goals in 134 matches for Anderlecht from 1987 to 1992; 55 goals in 173 games for Cagliari from 1992 to 1996 plus the 1999-00 season; 26 goals in 116 appearances for Fiorentina between 1996 and 1999. He played also for Bologna, Como, Catania, Foggia and Venezia among others. Brazilian born but naturalised Belgian, he gained 31 caps for Belgium, scoring 7 times.
Oliveira was an excellent striker. He didn't have an easy attitude and famous are two episodes that occured in the 1995-96 season: in the first he bit Savičević's shin after the Yugoslavian checked on Oliveira to see if he was really injured; in the second he made a very bad simulation that procured a penalty against Fiorentina which was an argument for the rest of the season. However, he was incredible in the field: he didn't have a strong physique but he was fast, unpredictable and gifted with formidable technical qualities. Regarded as one of the most complete attackers in the history of Cagliari, his technical and tactical abilities made him capable to adapt to any offensive role and partnerships with any other striker. He had a good shot technique and a fine accuracy in 1-on-1 situations but his favourite scoring way was after getting past the goalkeeper. In fact he was an outstanding trickster who could beat the opponents with quick and accurate dribblings. He also had decent reaction near the goal, a fine header ability and could pass the ball.
