INFO:
Ametrano was a midfielder or defender on the right side and more rarely a central midfielder. Grown up at Napoli he began his professional career in Serie C1 at Ischia in 1992. Two years later, he transferred to Udinese, where he had his best time, gaining a Serie A promotion and playing with the team a season in the top league. He left after 64 matches and 2 goals. He was bought by Juventus but played just a few matches, only one of which in Serie A. He was loaned to several clubs: Hellas Verona, Empoli, Genoa, Salernitana and Cagliari. He was eventually sold to Crotone in 2000. He played also for Napoli, Messina, Avellino, Potenza and Juve Stabia, where he retired in 2010.
Ametrano was a short player, gifted with determination, high speed, dribbling, technique, fine passing ability and a good shot. He was right-footed but could be seen using the left as well. He was a danger in the attack but less effective in the defence. He didn't possess great teamwork because he often preferred to look for the personal action when he ran with the ball on his feet. However, among his best characteristics was the ability to reach the end of the field and deliver back passes to the centre of the box. Often unfocused in the matches, he also lacked of consistency throughout his entire career, especially in Serie A and after leaving Udinese.
