Kocić was a goalkeeper. His career began in 1987 at Vlasina. He then played for Dubočica before joining Vojvodina in 1990, appearing in 107 league matches. He left the team in 1996 and played for Levante, Perugia and Empoli. He eventually came back to Serbia in 1998, playing 75 league games for Crvena Zvezda until 2001. He retired in 2006 after five seasons with the Cypriot team Ethnikos Achnas. He gained 22 caps for Yugoslavia. He was supposed to be part of the squad at the 2000 UEFA Euro but couldn't due to a broken toe while showering after the last practice prior to the tournament.
A promising goalkeeper since he was young, he showed decent things at Vojvodina, like good reaction, fine ability to cover the goal in 1-on-1 situations and to catch high balls, thanks mainly to his big physique. He didn't possess a great leap but his height clearly helped. He wasn't though always effective out of the goal. Noreover, he seemed to lack of pure goalkeeping skills, often making incredible mistakes and his positioning during free kicks was also not good. His goal kicks were powerful but most of the times didn't reach the right target. In fact, he was safer when he passed the ball with the hand.
