Shenaishil is a former sweeper, centre back and defensive midfielder. His career began in 1980. He played for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Zawraa, Qatari clubs Al-Gharrafa, Al-Sadd, Qatar SC and Emirati team Al-Sharjah. He retired in 2006. He gained 90 caps for Iraq, scoring 6 goals, taking part to the 1996 AFC Asian Cup and was included in the best XI of the tournament alongside his teammate Laith Hussein.
Shenaishil was an intelligent defender with a good physique. Praised by German legend Franz Beckenbauer at the end of a match between Iraq and United Arab Emirates, the Czar said that the Iraqi defender reminded himself because of the similar playstyle. Shenaishil wasn't too quick but possessed good anticipation and tackling ability. He also was gifted with decent technique and good passing, sometimes with fine curling. He could distribute the ball with the other defenders by using short passes or deliver pinpoint crosses from the back.
