Erik Bo Andersen is a former Danish striker, best remembered for his time at Aalborg and Rangers. With Aalborg he was the league's top scorer which helped AaB to the first league title in the history of the club. He also became a Denmark international during this time and played at Euro 96. Andersen was a striker known equally for his distinctive red hair, his incredible pace and also for his technical shortcomings. This led to his nicknames "Red Romario" and "Bambi", to describe both his excellent scoring record and his awkward style of play respectively. Due to his tall and skinny physique, he looked inelegant when he played but he was a highly effective scorer at his peak. When he started running nobody could catch him and he was constantly on the move and trying to make runs in behind the defence. Due to his awful first touch he was much better when he didn't have to control the ball too much before shooting, so he was well suited to just playing on the shoulder of the last defender or reacting to balls in the box. He actually wasn't too bad when dribbling, especially when he could just use his pace to go past the defenders. He did a good amount of defensive work too, especially at AaB in games where they were outmatched and therefore had to play a bit deeper, he would chase the ball down a lot. He wasn't an especially talented finisher and even looked awkward there too but his scoring record spoke for itself. Unfortunately he was pushed out of Rangers despite a good record of 15 goals in 23 league games (and 2 famous goals to win against Celtic on New Year's Day), and his career went into steep decline after that due to injuries and a lack of confidence. He finished his career in 2003 after a second, goalless spell at AaB. Overall he scored 66 goals for Aalborg and is one of their most popular players.
