INFO:
Mustafa is a former centre forward and winger on both sides, who also played as right back in his very early career. He spent most of his career at Al-Arabi from 1990 to 2003. Al-Arabi won five Qatar Stars Leagues, three national cups and reached the 1994-95 AFC Champions League final thanks especially to Mustafa's performances. In fact, he was the Qatar Stars League top scorer in 1992, 1993 and 1997, the top assist-man in 1996 and 1998. Moreover, he was named the best Arab player in 1992 and 1998. He retired in 2007 after experiences with Al-Khor and Al-Gharafa. He capped 85 times for Qatar, scoring 41 goals, captaining the team and winning the 1992 Gulf Cup, where he was named best player of the tournament. He achieved everything he could despite suffering numerous injuries.
Nicknamed al-Sinyari after a rare bird, Mustafa is regarded as one the most prominent players in the history of Qatar and was integral of one of the country's best ever sides in the early 1990s. Gifted with extraordinary skills, outstanding scoring sense and high speed ─ he was a runner in 400-meters before playing football ─ he excelled at overcoming his opponents while keeping the ball with dribblings and tricks, avoiding contact since he didn't have a strong physique. He was a fearsome scorer, who possessed a powerful right-foot, superb shot technique, could use well the outside, was an excellent free kick and penalty taker. A good passer and crosser, he also took corners. Last but not least, he was a fair player, who received only one red card in his career and that happened by mistake from the referee who even apologized after the match. Former Qatar's coach considered him as the best player he coached while Kuwaiti commentator and former player once said that he offers in a match what no player does in a whole season. Gabriel Batistuta ─ he joined Al-Arabi in 2003, right when Mustafa was about to leave the team ─ wished to have him as teammate at Fiorentina.
