Darko Pančev was born 7 September 1965 in Skopje, is a retired Yugoslav and Macedonian footballer, winner of the Golden Boot award. One of the best striker of all time in the former Yugoslavia and one of the best in the world in his generation.

Started playing in the Vardar Skopje. First team debut for spring 1983rd, and already in the 1983/84 season he became top scorer in the Yugoslav championship with 19 goals. With medium Vardar was constantly on the top of the best scorers and became part-time team member (debut 1984th against Hungary).

A turning point in his career was the move played for the 1988th year. Star has narrowly overtaken Partizan, bringing Pancevo and Savicevic, started to create a European team for the highest achievements. After years in the JNA, the Red Star, made his debut against Liberty, 30.7. 1989th with two goals.

With Red Star, he won the world title Jugoslavije 1990., 1991. and 1992, Kup Jugoslavije 1990. (Scored the only goal against Hajduk in the final), European Champions Cup 1991st ("The Golden Boot Red Star gilded is our red-white team," Milojko Pantic) and the Intercontinental Cup 1991st (Scored the third goal against Colo Colo-a). The best scorer of the Yugoslav championship was even three times, 1990., 1991. and 1992.

Pancev was rastan attacker. The only thing in football knew that that was the goal. And that is why the football game. Scored a beautiful and ugly goals, right and left foot, head, hand (against Hajduk 1991)., Knee, heel, even the buttocks (when he jumped to block a pass from defender cleared of Sarajevo or the Olympics, 1990.), From penalties, free kicks ... Simply made the goals in all possible ways. The fact that he could not keep the ball, to dribble (except in a small area, where he knew the opponent to catch on the wrong leg), that uklizava, that helps the defense, even as it has been an integral part of modern football, the fans said goodbye to him.

1991st was the most successful for the "Black Cobra". Besides the already mentioned titles, was the best scorer of the national team in qualifying for the European Championship 1992nd In this competition cycle, scored 11 goals, including three hat-trick (against Austria, Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands). He was also the top scorer in European Cup Red Star 1991st, with 5 hits. But it was not enough, so the gold ball French "France Football" and went to Jean-Pierre Papin-in. Finalists cash from Marseille-om. Pancev has shared second place with fellow club Dejan Savicevic and Robert Prosinecki. For consolation he remained Golden Boot, scored 34 goals that season in the championship and thus broke the record of Slobodan Santrac.

The following season, despite the good games, Red Star did not reach the final. Memorable was the "Show Pancev in Athens. At the airport provoked the Greek public by writing a "Macedonian" in the form to enter the country. Every time he touched the ball, followed the outburst of whistles Panathinaikos fans (mostly supporters of left-oriented PASOK, prim. Aut). Darko to repay them with two beautiful goals, what the stadium Karaiskaki probably have not seen, and eliminated the green. After the second goal, playing a round and silent, the Macedonian Athenian audience.

1992nd year he went to Inter Milan. He failed to adapt to the local game mode, and with all due respect, it is not guarded defense Celik, Osijek and work, but Milan, Juventus, Parma and others, and for three seasons at 30 games scored only ten goals and never failed to be stood up in the Inter first team in addition to Uruguayan Sosa, who played in great form, then the best scorer in World Cup 1990th Salvatore Totto Schillacija, and the Dutch super-star Dennis Bergkamp. In the Bundesliga, he played in a mediocre club, Fortuna Düsseldorf and VfB Leipzig.

Following the collapse of Yugoslavia played six games for the FYROM and scored one goal.

For the Yugoslav team scored 17 goals in 27 games, the championship of Yugoslavia was the second scorer of all time, with 169 goals (85 for Vardar and 84 for Red Star). It should be noted that the Santrac (except for two seasons in Switzerland) his entire career playing in Yugoslavia, while Pancev played only eight seasons in first division, against the still strong defense and edgier than those against whom he played Santrač sixties and seventies.

August 2006., A former Red Star player finally got the "Golden Boot" award as the top scorer in Europe in the season 1990/91. year. Pančev in that season scored 34 goals, but he then challenged the award of Cyprus Football Association, claiming that their player scored 40 goals. Later this claim Cypriot Union challenged the French sports newspaper "team", who awarded the "Golden Boot".

Candidate for President of the European football federation, the Frenchman Michel Platini at the award "Golden Boot" at a ceremony in Skopje said that it was "difficult to deliver the prize football player who won his Olympic".

"Joking aside, the prize, though delayed, is going in the right hands," said Platini.

He could score directly from free kicks, he should have FK 75 at least. IMO he was faster than current values show, especially his ACC was better...

I don't think he deserves SP 85, also SA could be lower but ST higher. His goals from volleys were numerous and spectacular, I think 88-89 for SA with 94 for ST could be better solution. As for SP, I don't know about 85, rather 82...

Updated this thread, I don't see big difference between him and Santrač, or Gerd Muller...

BTW excellent profile of him:

This is a joke, right? Comparing a striker who couldn't settle in a big European league with the best CF ever is just laughable if you ask me..

It's not a joke, I forgot to write players of similar characteristics...

That's mistake, I wanted to mention similar type of players but it's obvious he was inferior to both guys mentioned...
