Tony Vidmar was a very interesting player. He was Terry Venables' utility player, being able to perform mostly anywhere on the pitch. He wasn't as talented as his older brother, but he was incredibly versatile, with decent passes and DEF/ATT awareness. He's one of the few players I can say that is worthy of a 8/8 for WFA/WFF, as he could play by both sides and use both feet as he needed. His crosses were equally accurate with either foot, and he could use them both for dribbling and shooting as well. This set could be used too for the Barcelona '92 olympics, I guess. A later set can be made as well, for 2001-2006, but I do not intend on doing it right now. |

given that he was a naturally right footed player, but invariably found deployed on the left side (and able to use his left every bit as good as his right), is the standard to have a player listed as "side: LF" and to keep the wfa/wff to 8/8? the most famous similarity would be paolo maldini, who is alternatively listed here as "side: RF"... is vidmar listed as such because he trained himself to be so two footed as to be thought of as truly ambidextrous? to quote vidmar, talking about taking a penalty left footed against uruguay in 2005: "i'm a natural right footer. i felt over that distance, from a penalty spot, i would have probably more control and more power with my left than my natural right... if it was just going to be placed, then i don't think it would have happened" |
