Neqrouz is a former sweeper and centre back. His career began in 1993 at Moloudia Oujda. He transferred to Young Boys a year later, playing 100 matches and scoring 7 goals in three seasons. In 1997, he joined Bari, where he stayed until his retirement in 2001 due to a persistent knee injury, after playing 175 games and scoring 8 goals. The beginning of his journey in Italy wasn't very good because he didn't immediately settle in Serie A. In a game against Juventus, he couldn't stop Filippo Inzaghi. Therefore, he decided to grab his penis and insert a finger in his arse. He then received a red card. The defender gained 18 caps for Morocco, taking part to the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.
Regarded as one of the best ever defenders in the history of Bari, Neqrouz was a tall, strong and charismatic defensive leader gifted with temperament. A hard and often not fair tackler, as a man marker, he committed numerous fouls and wasn't too effective in 1-on-1 challenges. On the other hand, he was excellent at positioning, covering and anticipating the opponent. However, he also made several mistakes in many matches. Gifted with good leap and heading ability as well as a powerful shot, he could be a threat in attack even though he rarely left the defence. He could distribute the ball, especially with long and usually accurate passes from the back. Mostly right-footed, he sometimes used the left foot but with no much success. He had fine technique, which combined with his big physique made him capable to defend the ball when he was in its possession.
