Gabriele Pin is a former central or defensive midfielder. He spent the majority of his career at Parma − where he acted even as side back for necessity during his second spell − from 1983 to 1985 and from 1992 to 1996 and Lazio from 1986 to 1992. He played over 200 matches for the Gialloblu and 225 for the Biancocelesti, scoring respectively 10 and 16 goals. He played also for Juventus and Piacenza, where he retired in 1997.
Pin was a hardworking and consistent player, who deserved to play for Italy but was unlucky to be never called up. He acted equally well when protecting the back line or setting up the action. He was gifted with determination, dynamism either through the center or down the flank, sense of position and great passing ability. He had accurate feet, technique, excellent vision of the game and playmaking skills. He had the ability to find quickly an opponent to stop and close him the space before triggering the offense with accurate but not fast long balls. He also liked shooting from long range and, despite not being very tall, was a fine header and did alright in physical challenges.
