INFO:

Michalis Kasapis is a former AEK legend, the best left back in the club's history and one of the best Greece has ever produced. He was a very direct and offensive full back, basically playing like a winger. He was fast and a good crosser and had excellent stamina which helped him produce constant dangerous runs down the left side. His usual trick was to play a one-two pass inside the pitch and burst past the opposition defender to get himself free to cross into the box. He had a great partnership on AEK's left side with Toni Savevski for many years. On the other hand he didn't participate much in defensive tasks, focusing almost entirely on his attacking duties. So much so that he often played on the left side of midfield. If he was more technically gifted he probably would have been a full time winger but his running ability helped him shine at left back. With the Greek national team he only earned 37 caps due to a protest in 1999 with his teammates Atmatsidis and Nikolaidis against the refereeing in Greece. This came after an incident where he attacked a referee and was banned for 24 games. He also had to compete with Grigoris Georgatos who is often considered the best Greek left back. Unfortunately he was just starting his international career in 1994 and was retired from international football by 2004 so never got to play in an international tournament. With AEK he won 1 league title and captained the club at times.
