Dave Bowman was a midfielder or right back best known for his time at Dundee United. He played over 400 games for the club in a 12 year spell in which he played in the 1987 UEFA Cup final and won the 1994 Scottish Cup. Bowman was a very aggressive and combative defensive midfielder, often getting in trouble with referees but also being a key player in United's midfield. His versatility and capacity for running made him a useful player, able to play on the right side of defence or midfield as well as his usual position breaking up play in the middle of the pitch. His low centre of gravity made him difficult to push off the ball and able to turn in tight spaces when dribbling, allowing him to escape from pressure easily, a helpful attribute since his first touch wasn't so great. His short passing was mostly simple but he could hit some nice long passes too, and could send some useful crosses when he got forward from the right back position. He also had solid speed which helped him get back to cover his teammates. Bowman won 6 caps for Scotland, and was part of the squad for Euro 1992 although he didn't appear in any games.
