Bucci was a goalkeeper. He had his best time at Parma from 1993 to 1996. He played for the Crociati also in 1985-86, between 1988 and 1990, from 2004 to 2008, for a total of 191 matches and 205 suffered goals. He also had a good spell at Torino, playing 175 games from 1998 to 2003. He played also for Reggiana, Perugia, Empoli and Napoli among others. He gained 3 caps for Italy.
Bucci was a reliable and consistent goalkeeper. He had good strength despite not being very tall. He had great athleticism, reaction, agility between the posts and a huge leap. He was very capable in 1-on-1 situations, covering the goal well or anticipating the uncoming attacker. He could reject powerful shots, block easily the ball on the ground. Regarded one of the best Italian goalkeepers during the 1990s in terms of technique, he was comfortable when using the feet, either to save shots or stop the ball. In fact, he could trigger the action from his goal − also with nice long kicks − and was suitable for zone play.
