INFO:
Poggi is a former centre forward, winger ─ mainly on the right side ─ and secondary striker. He spent the majority of his career in two teams: Venezia and Udinese. He played for Venezia in four different spells, at the beginning of his career from 1989 to 1992, in 2002-03, in 2004 and from 2006 to 2009, when he retired. He had though with Udinese his most successful time, scoring 54 goals in 198 games from 1994 to 2000. He formed with Oliver Bierhoff and Márcio Amoroso a formidable attacking partnership that led the team to their first ever participation to the UEFA Cup at the end of the 1996-97 season and to a Serie A third place the following year. He played also for Torino, Roma, Bari, Piacenza, Ancona and Mantova.
Poggi was a very good forward, clever and agile. He liked to start the attack from the midfield, looking for space to shoot or to penetrate the defence. He possessed high speed that he showed especially on the wings. He was excellent with the ball on his feet and he would either move to the center or try to cross. He had good dribbling and great technique. His was left-footed, could use the right as well and was very accurate with the outside. Many of his goals are volleys, first time or sometimes powerful shots, mainly with the outside. He was also very reactive, either when he saw the chance to take the ball from an opposing defender or when he had to hit the ball with a header.
