Anders Erik Limpár (born 24 September 1965) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Anders had instant control of the ball and had a more than decent shot on him with either foot, using very little backlift. He operated for Arsenal on the left wing, but played on the right for Sweden and had played in centre midfield for Cremonese. He had quick feet, along with rapid acceleration over the first five yards. Many a time he led a defender a merry dance with his quicksilver footwork, before bursting away from him, leaving the bamboozled defender in his wake. Scintillating runs, fantastic cross-field balls, and other deft touches made him crowd favourite. But never managed to respect team tactics, being lazy as well, which put him on the bench many times. Limpár is considered to be a good technician who is also quick to react and a goal threat. The small, agile player has no problems with the ball, but is sometimes a little uncontrolled in the game, which has repeatedly resulted in him being suspended. In addition, the ball artist is reluctant to submit to tactical constraints. His understanding of the game, it was criticized in Switzerland, all too often corresponds to "l'art pour l'art". Limpar featured for the clubs IF Brommapojkarna, Young Boys, Cremonese, Arsenal, Everton, Birmingham City, AIK, Colorado Rapids and Djurgårdens IF during a career that spanned between 1981 and 2002. A full international between 1987 and 1996, Limpar was capped 58 times by Sweden, scoring 6 goals altogether. He represented Sweden at the 1988 Summer Olympics, the 1990 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 1992, as well as the 1994 FIFA World Cup where Sweden finished third. In 1991, he was awarded Guldbollen as Sweden's best footballer of the year.
