Torrente is a former right or centre back. With 455 matches and 6 goals with Genoa from 1985 to 2000, he's one of the club's top players for number of appearances. He played also for Nocerina in his early career and Alessandria in his last season in 2000-01.
Torrente was a good player, mainly focused on defending and marking the opponent, even though he had troubles against wingers who relied on quickness and dribbling. He was powerful and determined but rough and not well-timed in the tackles, often resulting in fauls. He was mostly right-footed and possessed a decent shot.
