Des Walker was English center back who was famous as one of the fastest defenders of his time. During his prime, he was one of the best English defenders which reflects in international caps - during five years period, he played in 59 international games. He was great in man marking, but his perfectly timed strong tackles became his trademark. He rarely missed matches and kept his high form throughout his whole Nottingham career. He was good in aerial duels, but he rarely went forward on attacking corners. The reason for that was that if the opposition had a counterattack, his speed allowed him to be a formidable adversary in that kind of situation. Although he was an excellent defender, he didn't interact with his teammates very well. He could go after the same player as his teammate, leaving another attacker all alone. He went for every ball, whether he was in good situation or not. He represented England in one World Cup and one European Championship and was one of the best English players in those tournaments. He scored only one goal in his whole career.
