INFO:Yorke is a former centre forward, who played also as winger during his early years and attacking midfielder in his late career. He spent the majority of his career at Aston Villa from 1990 to 1998: 288 matches and 98 goals. He transferred to Manchester United, where he stayed for four seasons: 152 games and 66 goals. With the "Red Devils", he formed a great couple of strikers with Andy Cole: the pair understood each other superbly. In his early career, he was used also as winger while at the end of his career, at Sunderland, as defensive midfielder. He occasionally played as secondary striker at Aston Villa. He played also for Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Sydney. He retired in 2009. He won 72 caps for Trinidad and Tobago, scoring 19 times. He managed to play in the FIFA World Cup in 2006.
Yorke was nicknamed "the Smiling Assassin" because of his incredible scoring ability and his constant smiling. As winger − which was his main position until 1995 − he wasn't too prolific but showed an impressive close control and skills with the ball. His high technique was proved by quick feints and tricks, heel passes and first time touches. Starting from the following season though, he was the main striker and began showing his ability in front of the goal. The attacker wasn't only a great scorer but he was also gifted with excellent vision: his outstanding first time touch ability procured many assists for his teammates. He positioned himself very well in the box and despite not being very tall, he proved to be amazing in the air, scoring many goals after receiving a cross, especially during his time at Manchester United. He could shoot well on goal either with power or accuracy, depending on the position, and was impeccable in 1-on-1 situations against the goalkeeper.
