Gaudenzi is a former side or central midfielder who could play also as defensive midfielder. He played for many teams including Brescia, Ancona, Livorno, Hellas Verona, Milan, Cagliari, Lucchese, Modena and Cesena. He had though his best times at Pescara, where he played a total of 98 matches and scored 7 goals in two spells, between 1986 and 1988, between 1993 and 1995. He retired in 2000.
Gaudenzi possessed a good physique and remarkable speed that allowed him to run for many minutes. He pushed forward a lot and his shots had good power. However, he mostly created scoring chances for his teammates with accurate and fast short passes with either foot or nice crosses. He could be a threat in the opposing box thanks to a good heading ability.
