INFO:Horiike is a former side back, centre back and defensive midfielder. Initially deployed in front of the back-line, he formed the defensive line alongside Hisashi Katō after joining Yomiuri. Instead, his main position with Japan was right-back. He played 112 matches for Yomiuri from 1988 and 1992, scoring 3 goals. He then transferred to Shimizu S-Pulse, where he remained for seven seasons, playing 236 games and scoring 5 goals. He played also for Cerezo Osaka and again Shimizu S-Pulse, retiring in 1999. He capped for Japan 58 times, scored twice.
Horiike was a good defender, mostly defensive minded, although he sometimes supported the forward line. He wasn't very tall nor strong but he was still decent in the air. He possessed good anticipation and the ability to cover the ground. Even though he was gifted with good speed, he suffered against opponents as they made a sprint. His abilities turned him into one of the key players during Shimizu S-Pulse early years, forming the so-called "Shimizu's talented three" trio alongside Kenta Hasegawa and Katsumi Oenoki.
