INFO:Sherwood is a former central or defensive midfielder. His career began in 1987 at Watford. He transferred after two seasons to Norwich City, where he was also used as full-back. He played there for three seasons. He eventually joined Blackburn Rovers in 1992, winning the 1994-95 Premier League and quickly becoming team captain and legend. He played 300 matches and scored 31 goals for Blackburn in six seasons. In 1999 he transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, where he played 118 games, scoring 16 times in three seasons. He gained 3 caps for England in 1999. He retired in 2005 after short experiences at Portsmouth and Coventry City.
Sherwood was a strong player, gifted with high stamina. He mostly covered the defensive zone in the midfield and acted as playmaker from the back, delivering accurate long passes. He wasn't fast but his size and timing of reaction made him capable to often win challenges against the opponent. He liked pushing forward to take advantage of his good technique, heading ability and powerful long range shots that made him very dangerous on the attack.
