INFO:
Morfeo is a former attacking midfielder, capable of playing as secondary striker, winger and side midfielder. His career began in 1993 at Atalanta, where he spent four seasons, making 94 appearances, scoring 23 goals. Then he played for Fiorentina, Milan, Cagliari, Hellas Verona and Inter. He eventually had his best time at Parma, where he scored 16 goals in 96 matches from 2003 to January 2008. He retired in 2011 after underwhelming spells with Brescia and Cremonese, and a year in Italian lowest leagues.
A versatile offensive player who could cover multiple positions, Morfeo was deployed mainly in the midfield behind the forward line, although he played several times on the flank previously to his transfer to Parma. A talented, agile and creative playmaker, he possessed excellent technical skill, great dribbling, superb vision, the ability to provide assists and look for a scoring attempt with his left foot. He wasn't too fast in his later years, and he didn't run much around the opposition area, often playing the ball from static positions. While his shots could be powerful and accurate, especially from long range, he wasn't prolific. Also, he was a good free kick taker who gave the ball an insidious curled trajectory. On the other hand, he missed several penalties during his time at Parma. Morfeo's natural style of play, class and touches amused everyone, but he was extremely inconsistent. Furthermore, he was aware of his talent. He therefore was at times an individualist who enjoyed mocking his opponents, and his attitude problem made him a difficult man to deal with. All these characteristics prevented him from reaching his full potential.
