Niweat is a former centre back, comfortable also in the right back position. A highly experienced player, he debuted in 1996 and retired in 2018, spending seasons in numerous teams in Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. He capped for Thailand 107 times, scoring 3 goals and winning the 2000 AFF Championship.
Regarded at his time as one of the best defenders in Thailand, Niweat was though distinguished in particular for his powerful long range free kicks. He scored nearly 20 goals throughout his long career. Inspired by Italian legend Paolo Maldini, Niweat was good in the defence, although he sometimes pushed forward to support the attack and mostly to shoot on goal.
