INFO:
Greening was a side midfielder who could play also as central or defensive midfielder and occasionally playmaker. His career began in 1996 at York City. He joined Manchester United in 1998, playing 27 matches in three seasons as reserve and being part of the squad the made the historical Treble. In 2001 he was sold to Middlesbrough where he was a regular starter for three seasons, playing 109 games and scoring 4 goals. He eventually transferred to West Bromwich Albion in 2004 and here he was again a first choice for five seasons, appearing 224 times and scoring 8 goals. He played also for Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Tadcaster Albion and retired in 2017.
Greening, when playing on the side, used to make movements up and down the flank, passing the ball, giving troubles to the opposing defence thanks to a good dribbling ability, helping his team in defence and recovering balls. In a central position, he was more static, still showing his skills, creativity and passing ability, being the key player and playmaker of the squad.
